The Eastern Eye in Bath, what a place to do some photography. I'd been badgering them for a few weeks to get access to photograph in their kitchen during service, maybe they got tired of me asking because eventually they agreed. So pleased they did, managed to capture some great moments in the heat of an Indian restaurant's kitchen. The owner, Mr Choudhury even took the time to phone me after seeing some of the images to express his pleasure, which made it even more worthwhile.
A huge thanks to all at Bellita, who recently allowed me access to cover the work behind the scenes at their lovely tapas bar in Bristol (special thanks to Kate and Joe). It's a small place, just right for a friendly and intimate atmosphere – I got the distinct feeling the patrons were truly relaxed. I ought to thank them too for being pretty laid back while I took some photos in the bar and dining area during Friday evening service.
A cold January day warmed up by a great BBQ around a real fire, much banter and a chance to take a few pics. Great fun despite the rain, which wasn't forecast, eventually passing through leaving clear skies – if it hadn't been for the stupendous fire, cold noses would have been evident. It was rather like an old fashioned camp fire gathering, albeit not on a beach or in a field, but Genevieve's garden had suitable rustic charm. The kids took some motivating mind you, I think they'd rather have been inside, eventually warming to the occasion when the food was cooked and ready to scoff.
A cold, but inspiring, start to 2017 with cool walks along the canal, with crystal clean air and muted colours. Before breakfast over two mornings last week I set out to walk the banks of the Kennet and Avon canal close to my house, it's a pretty walk, but at this time of year, with frost, a dreamland. I guess these outings have given me the impetus I needed after the Christmas festivities, and add to my ongoing mission to take some engaging landscapes.
